Yemi Oshodi

Yemi’s expertise in the areas of risk arbitrage and risk management extends back to 1994, when he was selected to serve as Officer-In-Training at BT Alex Brown. Within less than five years, Yemi rose to rank of Vice President, overseeing a $250 million risk arbitrage portfolio utilizing options and derivative instruments. In 1999, he was recruited by ING Furman-Selz Asset Management (and predecessor subsidiary Bencourt Advisors LLP) to serve as VP/Senior Trader overseeing a $1 Billion Risk Arbitrage hedge fund.

In 2003, Yemi joined Commerzbank Capital Markets as Co-Head Merger Arbitrage and Event Driven Trading where he oversaw a $300 million portfolio focused on opportunistic events. Two years later, Yemi was recruited by investment manager Putnam Lovell NBF to serve as Director/Head of Event Driven Investing, where he managed a proprietary trading desk focusing on special situations and merger arbitrage. Yemi remained in that role until 2008, at which time he was recruited by Ramius Capital to serve as Director/Head Trader and was responsible for overseeing a group of portfolios with total asset value nearing $1 billion.

In early 2010, Yemi was recruited by inter-bank broker Tullet Prebon to serve as Managing Director, Risk Arbitrage/Special Situations, where he managed the entire research effort for this firm’s sales/ trading group specializing in event-driven and special situation strategies. Yemi joined WallachBeth Capital as Managing Director in October 2010. Yemi received his Certificate in Financial Risk Management from New York University (’96), and graduated with a BBA in Accounting from Hofstra University (’86). Yemi holds FINRA Series 7, 24, 55 and 63 licenses.
